Anyway to get chrome wheels like new?

I have some stock chrome wheels on my car and I was wondering if its possible to make them look as good as new rims? They dont have any scratches or curb rash. It looks like theres been some pitting in the corners and it changed color/duller. I was wondering if theres any special way to clean these things since it is the summer now? I polished them really well with mothers last year and it looked good but wasn't perfect.

I once heard something about using steel wool and wd40 and was wondering if that was just a joke or will it really work? Sounds like it woujld really scratch your rims up.

Re: Anyway to get chrome wheels like new?

Well... My problem is that i hit a curb with one of my rims that came with the car so i got a new one from discount tire. They claimed it was new but that one has seriously taken a beating from the salt of one winter. My others look the same as last summer. This one had a brand new finish and now it has tons of salt pits and stuff. Anyway to clean it up and make it look nicer or prevent it from getting worse?
