Anyone using 225 50 R16s on 16x8" wheels?

In keeping with my "sleeper" image I'm always looking to save a little weight especially on the front end. I'm in need of fronts for my 16x8 ZR1s and am considering using the 225 50 R16s as they are a little narrower and lighter than my 245 50 R16s. They will fit 6-8" wheels, I'm just wondering if anyone has done this and how did it look? I'm not worried about changing the aspect ratio because I run 275 40 R17s in the rear...Thanks in advance all...

IMO it will look cheap and nasty. A kid in my senior class ran 235's all the way around on his stock salad shooters and they looked horrible. I'd look for other places to save weight other than tires.

The 225/50-16 is going to be smaller diameter than the stockers, and will open up the gap between the fenders and the tire.... gonna look "skimpy". A 225/55-16 would be a better match to the stock diameter.

Thanks...actually I just saw 225 50 16s on a Firebird today and it does not look good at all...You are right Crazy95...I'm gonna bag the idea. I was just looking to drop a little weight off the nose for a few $$$ car is already light for a street car...I should be adding plenty of power with a new Joe O. cam and freshened heads by EB Porting anyway...Should probably start saving for a 12 bolt/9"....

Thanks again...
