anyone runnin 275-35-18's?
I'm currently running 275-40-18's on my Vette wheels and I love the way the car sits on them, but I was wondering if anyone was running 275-35-18's and if it is going to create a noticible increase in the gap between the tires and fenders. I found a good deal on the shorter tires and since I'm currently broke, I may have to go with this alternate size.

Re: anyone runnin 275-35-18's?
There's .54" of a difference between the two.
40% of 275mm (275/40/18) v/s 35% of 275mm for the (275/35/18)
I've seen both sizes ran on F-bodies just fine, like you said... isn't really enough to make a noticeable difference at least by appearance but it will throw your speedo and such off by just a bit since the 275/40's are a larger diameter tire. Unless you have a way of adjusting the settings in the PCM.

I'm running 275/40/18 Goodyear Eagle F1's on the rear, and I'm getting some rubbing on the inside of the wheel well when I go over speed bumps or I take turns sharply. Do any of you guys get this or is it just my whacked out V6 doing this?

Re: anyone runnin 275-35-18's?
I bought real vette wheels with tires already on them... Balding ones at that
255/40/17 up front and 295/35/18 in the rear...
In order to run the rear tires, i HAD to use a spacer... If not, it would rubbed the inside wheel well ALL the time. Thankfully they came with the spacers, but I tried without them first, then after a short test drive, I put the spacers on.
Even WITH the spacers, I would rub on hard cornering. But it only seemed like when taking right turns... Dunno if an adj. panhard would allow the rear to center more, and stop this however.
SO, 2 days ago, I finally mounted my brand new Falken 451's... I had a hard time trying to figure out which sizes I wanted to go with when ordering.
In the end, I got stock vette sizes... 245/45/17 up front and 275/40/18 in the rear (I have tunercat, not worried about the speedo).
Before, with the lower series tires all around, I could live with the rear-height, but the front desperately needed to be lowered. This was one reason I decided to go with stock vette sizes... It would fill up the wheel wells
Now with the 40/45 series, I like the height alot more! Even the front looks better.
My plan now is when I get new shocks, i'm just going to go with Koni SA's, and use the lower perch for the front, so it'll bring it down another 3/4" or so, and it'll be perfect!! I won't touch the rear height at all.
I have some pics with the 40/35 series, but they arn't that good...

I'll get some new pics with the new rubber soon.

Re: anyone runnin 275-35-18's?
Jeff,
Let me know how you like those Falken's. I seen some ads on ebay advertising that Falken was rated the #1 tire in Consumer Reports. They're much cheaper than Goodyear's and Michelins. I just worry about the performance after they're worn a bit. My Kuhmo Ecsta MX's were great tires new, but once they got past half-tread, they suckd in the rain, and now not quite down to the tread-bar's they're beginning to be bad on dry pavement! ...Are the expensive tires the same way? Or do they perform better than this after wearing down?
