98+ wheels on a 94

i know this sounds like a stupid question(at least thats what i thought until i tried it) I tried putting some 99 t/a wheels on my 94 and the backs wouldnt fit, the "hub" (dont know if thats the proper name) on my car was a bigger diameter than the hole in the rim. basically my question is simple, will 98 z wheels fit my hawk? or are they the same as the 99 t/a wheels?

Re: 98+ wheels on a 94

Sometime in 1996-97, the outside diameter of the rear axle hub was made smaller. So, if you try to put newer wheels on an older 4th Gen, you often have to lightly sand the inside diameter of the hole in the wheel, so it will fit over the 0.03" larger hub on the ealry 4th Gens. Very common problem. Just make sure you remove enough from the inside of the wheel opening to provide a "loose" fit on the hub. You want to allow the conical lug nuts to center the wheel correctly. While you are at it, you might want to sand all 4 wheels, so you won't have a problem in the future when you go to "rotate" the wheels and tires.
