8.5" wide wheel -- max width tire?
is the max width tire for a 8.5" wheel the 245s?? thanks

To determine the max size tire, you have to throw in the diameter of the wheel and the aspect ratio of the tire. The larger the wheel diameter, and the lower the aspect ratio, the narrower the range of acceptable tire widths. Offset has nothing to do with determining the max tire width.
Easiest way is to go to Tire Rack, click on "tires by size" and look at each manufacturer's specs for the accpetable range of widths.
