Thanks Kandied! Your car has been an inspiration to me. Very fine ride you got there and what you've done in the thirdgen world is appreciated by us all.

I'm gonna look at possibly getting a 18x10 C6 wheel or w/e size they make and see if i cant get someone to custom paint match it so i can have 18's all around. OR i'll buy 19x10's and try to fit them on the front. However, that spacing would need a long 3" or so spacer and i dont want to go that much. I think they have a 19x9 or something in other colors i may beable to paint match them. I'll have to see. I'd like to run a 19x11 or 12 out back and run bigger tires but there would need to be alot of fender mods

ARP studs, look for the 12x1.5 studs that are 2.5" long
I believe its this part number ARP 100-7708

i would not suggest going 19's unless it's truly a show car/pleasure car and you have cash to burn. as a thirdgen running 19's currently the tires are very expensive due to limited demand. the wheels are more expensive obviously due to size, heavier and overall a much larger expense for the 1" you gain.

enjoy the 18's.

yeah tires are pretty expensive at over 300 a pop for the rears :) Its not really a show car but i do want it to look good. I think i'm gonna just hang onto my setup as is for now and look into different wheels down the road possibly in 18's. Not sure yet.

So if you look at the fender from the top how much do they stick out?
the reason i want to know is that mine kind of look a little to inside the fender and was wondering if 1.7 inch spacers will take it out the fender just a little.....

Orr89rocz 12-31-2008 12:49 PM

they dont stick out at all. 1.5" spacer would tuck them in way to far. My tire sidewall is about 1.25-1.5" inside the fender lip. typical 2" spacers would push it out more like an 1inch from the fender lip.

Since i plan to have C5 brakes over winter, i got 1.7" spacers since the new brake brackets will push the tire out another .30"

you can see the front abit in this pic

they are tucked well

:thumb: I'd like to thank you for sharing your pics, info, and experience. It helped me choose the correct spacers I'll need for my app. Thanks! :metal:

Orr really does have a nice ride!

4th Gen rear axle assembly.
If you own a 3rd Gen with a stock or aftermarket 3rd Gen width rear though, the rear wheel/spacer sizes he uses on his car won't fit yours. But good info for the few guys running 4th Gen rears.....

In order to make this sticky more applicable to most of us with these cars, does anyone have info on how to run these wheels on a factory 3rd Gen?

EDIT: After looking around on some of the boards, it seems the thing to do is run at least 2" spacers all around - depending on what size/width Vette wheels you get...

Re: 3rd Gen - 18x8.5/19x10 C6 Wheels

Any particular reason why you chose a "40" front tire and rear "30" tire? Does the rear "30" tire make the ride stiffer and rough?

got these last year ,, the spacers i used were 2" on the front and 2.5" on the rear ..the bumpstops had to be trimmed flush with the wheel well. and i had the inner lip massaged by a local body shop.;.. they do give the car a rougher ride though considering the rear tires are 285/35/19 theres little give in them ,, and there run flats so that makes it even worse.. aswell i found that the car tracks on uneven ground .. im told thats due to having wide front tires.. this is before the car was lowered.. you would not belive the differance in compliments i got from before the C6's and after..
