315's on 10" wheel according to tirerack

the sumitomo htr z and the dunlop 315/17/35...are listed as able to fit a 10" min wide wheel..i thought 10.5 or 11" was the min?? do these tires run just a little smaller? can any1 chime in?

No, they are not smaller. I have the HTRZ's on my car with 17X9.5 inch rims and they are wide. The only 315 tire that I know of that is smaller is the Nitto Drag radial in 315. You will be fine with a 10" wheel.

The minimum rim width is determined by the manufacturer. It can even vary for the same size tire from the same manufacturer in two different "lines". Compare the Goodyear GS-D3 (10.5" min.) to the Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar (11.0" minimum). Dunlop seems to accept a narrower width than the other manufacturers.

When I bought my car it had 315s on a 9 inch wide wheel out back Other then it rubbing the inner well there was no problems.
