215 on saldad shooters safe lol? For winter

Hey, My dad has not got my beater fixed, he keeps on making it worse I think, but its a great car but it might be a while before he takes it somewhere etc etc

For winter. Ther not bad here maybe 1 inch of snow a year. I'm thinking of putting on 215's like that came on stock firebirds. I have 285's right now, but the I paid 700 bucks for them, and they just wear quick, I mean I dont want to waste good tires going back and forth to school . I know I couldn't take turns as good or go 140 in these. But would they be ok. Tire track has a set for 176 kumho's and that would at last me a while. Thanks

8" rim to wide for 215/60-16 Go with a 225/55-16. Thats the size of my snow tires and I have them mounted on salad shooters.

What size tire fits correctly on a given wheel width is determined by the tire manufacturer, and varies quite a bit. If you look up a 215/60-16 on Tire Rack, you will get more than 60 tires to choose from. Some are limited to rim widths of 6.0 - 7.0" or 6.0 - 7.5", and at least some Dunlops are OK for 5.5 - 8.5".

I run 215/60-16 Blizzaks on my stock 16x8 wheels in the winter. I realize that Bridgestone specifies 7.5" as the widest reccommended wheel for this tire, but I haven't had any problems.

It just takes a bit to get used to your Camaro handling like a late-70's Caddie, though.
