18's in front 20's in rear?

I was wondering if i could put 18's up front and 20's in the rear? To give the appearance of my 99 as slanting forward.

Is this a stupid way to go? Will it work? Are there better solutions? Will i need to do any cutting?

Cutting of what?

Whether it gives the car a "rake", and whether the tires rub will be determined by the diameter of the tires and the offset of the wheels, not the diameter of the wheels.

Will have to do any cutting of the wheel wells? Or any of the brake parts? etc...?

What's a "rake"?

If you put the right size tires on the correct offset wheels, they will not rub on anything, or hit anything. 18" and 20" wheels will increase clearance around the brakes and suspension. The tires for a 20" wheel can be the exact same outside diameter as the stock tires... for example:

stock 245/50-16 = 25.65"
285/25-20 = 25.61"

You can fit tires as large as 28.0" diameter in the rear, without cutting the wheel wells..... see photo below.

What's a "rake"?
That would be what you called "give the appearance of... slanting forward." The back of the car sits higher than the front of the car...... for example, 28" tires in the back, 26" in the front:

Awesome. Thanks for the info. I'm assuming that low profile tires wouldn't make a difference?

Would the specs in the FAQ of the 20's and 18's be the specs i need?

I'm not doing any racing. Just for show.

I have a 95 camaro with C6 rims. 20 x 10.5 rear and 18 x 10 in the front. If you go with wider tires make sure you get an adjustabale panhard rod. mine still rub from time to time if i go over a huge dip in the road. I had to go with ruberband thin tires on the rear. if they were any taller im sure they would rub alot more. I love the way it looks with the forward slant. My car is also lowered so that might make a difference too.

Thanks that's good to know.

How much did you lower your car? Is it lowered in both the rear and front?

I am also going to be lowering the car.

Wicked sweet. Are those Ruff Racing wheels? If not yours look close to them. I'm looking at a model similar to that. I'm going with hyper black, though, i think.

Yeah i hear that. Waaayyy too much for my car. I didn't even spend that much on buying my car.

I've been looking at the Ruff Racing wheels. But i haven't found any that have the spokes (or whatever you call them) that round inwards towards the brakes. Most i have seen round outwards away from the brakes. IMO it looks strange.
