Re: 17x9

I'd be willing to bet your current wheels are 16x8. At least if they are stock F-body wheels, that is.

In any case, if you go with 17x9's, the best tire to get is a 275/40-17, which has the same overall diameter than the 245/50-16.

No need to reprogram anything. Just bolt them on and you are good to go.

That's completely up to your wants, needs, budget etc., but if you buy just tires for your current wheels, you'll save a bunch of money, of course. Unless you buy a used set of 17's from somebody in the For Sale section, of course.

255/50... minor speedometer error, minor size increase from stock.

The PCM can easily be reprogrammed to correct for different tires, gears, etc.

Re: 17x9

I just took off my Grand Sport wheels. They look like black ZR1s. They are all 17X9.5 and have Firestone Firehawk SZ50's on 'em, size is 285/45ZR17. Here are some pics.
I didn't clean them before taking the pics.
This one kinda shows what they looked like on the car:

Here's a closer view:

Make me an offer.

Re: 17x9

Not to change the subject ,but DrivingZiggy , I have been considering the black grandsports on my white Z ,do you happen to have any more pics to show with these on the car and your opinons on the style or look of this combination. Ive seen a few pics with the zo6 style and it looks sweet ,but im leaning more towards the grand sports again any info pics would be great.
Thanks

Re: 17x9

Are you sure those tires are 285/45-17? I didn't know anyone made a tire that size, and if they did it would be 27.1" diameter, or about 1.5" larger than the stockers. Could they possibly be 285/40-17?
