16" wheels on an SS?

I'm looking at upgrading from my '97 Z28 to a (sweet) '02 SS.

The Z's got 16" wheels but the SS has 17" wheels. (specifically 245/50-16 and 275/40-17)

I've got a set of 16" snow tires (w/wheels) will they fit on the SS or will I need to be purchasing a new set of snow tires?

You shouldn't have a problem with 16's on the SS..... the SS convertibles came with 16" wheels, not 17" wheels. Only the coupes had 17's.

Thanks. That's what I was thinking but I wasn't sure if there wasn't something like a suspension change...

While that may have been true w/the LT1 f-bods, its incorrect for 98 up SS convertibles.

Snow tires on a Z28/SS??

Instead of buying tires, why not buy a beater. I would never drive a camaro in the snow.

But yea the 16's will fit.

Maybe because it has to be much cheaper than buying a beater and paying insurance on 2 cars instead of just one car and tires.

Well, you get a cheap beater and just cancel the insurnce in the Summer months. That's what i do.

There ain't a chance in hell i'd drive my Camaro in the Winter.

LOL, but your winters are far worse than mine. I wouldn't drive mine in your winter either, but I drove my 00 and my 70 in the snow when I lived in Tulsa. That was w/out snow tires too.
