Wreck down 78?? Anyone know them?

From what i know there was a wreck down 78.

Update

It was a White T/A what looked like a WS-6 had the ram air hood w/ T-tops. and a Grey Camaro said to be racing. The T/A lost control and jumped the medain and went into an oldsmobile. The T/A was hit in the rear right corner panel and the front of the car looked untouched. As for the Oldsmobile it looked bad REAL bad. Almost the whole front of the car was missing. The T/A driver was care flighted and the 2 people in the other car was care flighted.

The grey camaro was no where to be found and they are looking for it now. It was just now on the news.

if anyone has anymore info please post it.

DAMN! I grew up in Sachse...

Oddly enough, my girlfriend was going out there to look at a Tahoe today and called me to ask if anything was on the news b/c 78 was shut down.

I used to see a white LT1 WS6 running around Sachse so I guess I could say I know of the owner (younger guy).

I didn't know anyone with a gray Camaro out there...

****ing dip****s though... Both drivers were ****ing stupid for racing on a widely used public road. My girlfriend had our 2 1/2 month old daughter with her.... Imagine how many lives those morons endangered...

where exactly did it happen? i drive that way to work everyday, but i was on vacation this week so i missed it. seems like it would be a hard place to wreck since its pretty straight, but i guess you can't underestimate the power of stupidity. between that and all the wrecks on 190 i bet that whole area will be swarming with cops now.

it happened at the light right before you hit that long straight away after you go over the bridge heading north toward the chicken express pizza hut and into wylie. It was a what looked like White ws-6 LS1 t/a w/ t-tops. One of my friends mom knew them and they used to live near them. His name was Charles and he was 24~ had a wife that was 23 and he didn't have kids but his wife and kids.

I hate to say it but he knew the knews the risks in street racing and what CAN happen, but i'm not saying in no way did he deserve it.

My guess is that he was going about 100+ by the time he got to that little turn and he either took it to fast hit something in the road and his back end slide out from under him since he went across the median and the oldsmobile his his rear. The T/A didn't even look as bad as the other car.

All that i can hope is that the people he ran into are ok.

That is so sad. People do need to find a safe place to race. On the other hand who is not guiltly of a street race? Come on we all have done it. I don't do it anymore, but man that is so sad. We all know the risk by racing but sometimes you don't think about it. Maybe this will wake some people up about it though. Very sad

Unhappy

It was a very bad wreck. There's a flame war going on at LS1.com but here is the post and pictures from a news helicopter if anyone is interested.

I've lived in the that same square mile of area all of my life. I've traveled that street countless times. It is a very "good" street for high speed, long and straight. My dad called me thinking it might have been my friend's T/A who lives a block away from there. Luckily his is a red LS1, not white. Also, my sister goes to Naaman (HS near by)and drives a silver, late 80's olds, so my parents were real scared that it was her and my other sister driving home from school. Thank God it wasn't.

Sad sad day for anyone that was involved and for us, sports car drivers. Our insurance will now go up and more laws will be made due to the irresponsible actions of others.

Just found this out from a friend of a friend that's dad has the white WS-6 car in his shop.

The reason the White WS-6 Wrecked was because the power steering pump went out .

Did they ever find who drove the grey camaro?

Last i heard it was someone from rowlett.. although idk if they cought him/her. One of my friends told me that there was a dude that usted to drive a grey one that went to rowlett that hasn't been there in 3 days prior to the wreck. Although i don't know if thats even true maybe just a story thats going around.

Last I heard it was changed to a grey Firebird and that it was in Richardson. Supposedly they had a warrant but had made no arrests. That was over a week ago, so I know nothing new.

Sounds like a story. I don't think you need power steering at
100mph+ . Now if the rack locked up that's another story.
