Whats the largest cam that will pass texas emissions

I was thinking hotcam and cc305 but will an xe 224/230 pass? Or maybe something in between the hotcam and 224/230?

Yes, you can get a xe 224/230 to legally pass. But, with almost any aftermarket cam, it depends on the tuning. Actually, I've seen much larger cams pass harris county dyno emissions testing.

Well I know of certain people who can pass me i just dont wanna worry about doing it illegaly, but I would like to hear some loopholes. I thought you could only get a valid inspection in the county you live in...?

THere are some loopholes around that law.... i think you can get an inspection in a county you dont live in if you are a student.

There are other ways too, im just not sure.

As far as cams go, duration and overlap are what wont let you pass.

Id get a custom grind with some huge lift. That would be your best bet.

Anywhere I can go to check out the loopholes, or anyone know of any others or can anyone verify that a student can go to another county?

I really dont think you need to worry about loopholes with the cams you listed. They should easily pass, assuming the rest of your exhaust system is up to par, you've got good cat(s), and decent programming.

thing is I dont want to be restricted to them, I only chose them because I may need them to pass.... this isnt a drag car so midrange is more important but maybe something bigger will work better...

the student loophole works, if you want to know more loopholes go to an inspection place and look at the paper tht list them all. there are several things.

if nothign else just go to a few places and say your a student untill it works, im sure it wouldnt take but a try or two.
if your an older guy it should still work too, just say your working on your phd or somthing. might want to know the name of whereeveryour "going to school" technical schools and stuff are ok too.

LOL.. I don't know where you got this info from, but it's completely false. If he went to any local inspection station. all he'd get is a crazy look from the inspector ~ followed shortly thereafter by a "so, what's your point?" .. And even if they didn't test for emissions, they'd still do a visual check for cats.

So.... gut your cats, they have to be there ~ visually.. Even if they're non functional.

Are you going to pay his fines or defend him ?
Get REAL folks the emissions testing is spreading, all the
out side counties of DFW are next, Ellis,Johnson next year etc.Soon it will be everywhere. And I can't believe there are
inpection stations willing to chance the HUGE fines for cheating.

its not necessarily "student" oriented, but as long as you keep your PERMANENT address in a non-emissions county it doesn't matter if your TEMPORARY address is in an emissions county...

even when i move permanently to the dallas/ft worth area, ill still be keeping my permanent address in brazos county where my parents are...
