Also, does anyone know if it's "technically" legal to put your plate on the air dam? I did it once on my old IROC but it was ripped off pretty quickly from the parking lot curbs you pull up to.
In Harris County it's not.

It has to be on the most furthest point on the front of the car.

This would only be true if they have a local ordinace that supercedes state law.

This was posted by DomesticViolence. He's a cop, so I guess he knows better.

There is no "forward most" wording in the state legislation.

If a solid black camaro was coming with no plate, they couldnt get a solid read on the car from the front. If they were to pull you over, you can ask to see the radar. If they cant show you one, its easily thrown out of court.
"they" DO NOT have to show you due to safety reasons.

And for a cop to pull you over for speed they have to 1st visually see you speeding. Secondly confirm your speed with Radar. And third hear the different pitch in noise the radar makes.

And there is no difference with a plate or not...or even the way a car is shaped for the newer Radars to work.

A few reasons for a front plate?.... Its State law. And say someone drives off from stealing gas. Commiting a robbery. Etc...

And on that foward most location. It dosent state it in the law. But the plate needs to be mounted were the car makers intended it. And if that did not hold up in court. A LEO could always say they could not see it.

And for everyone.....remember.....driving is a privilege, not a right.
