This Sucks

I m driving home from Louisiana and just past Lufkin, TX a 3000GT wants to play. So we play and I start to walk away, slow down and nail it when he gets next to me, start to walk I let out of it and then the car just shuts off Pull over to the side of the road and the car wont start. Had it towed to a Chevy dealer were today I find out that timing chain broke. How the he!! does the timing chain break? Good news, I have a warrenty, better news, I will probably get a new engine for the Camaro for my $100.00 deductible. So it sucks that the car is in Lufkin broke but then a new engine is a good thing.

Thought I would share my tale and find out about what you all thought about the timing chain breaking.

That does suck, but if it's the stock timing chain then it wouldn't surprise me. Well like you said, at least you will be getting a new engine.

Maybe the crank gear accelerated faster than the cam gear causing strain on the chain exceeding it's maximum load?

Good news though... new motor - dealer installed @ 66k... it's like a new lease on life!
