subframes

I have some SLP subframes that i need to have welded in. Who can weld them in and does good work and at a reasonable cost? How much does it normally cost? I've heard of people using muffler shops for this task. Im looking for a place in the frisco or lewisville area or nearby. Thanks Bill.

Re: subframes

Its true most muffler shops can do it, but just be careful and ask questions... You dont want "Joe Snuffy" doing a job that he has never done before... Make sure the shop has knowledge of what they are doing.... Cost can range from 30-60 dollars, depending on all that is involved...

Re: subframes

I've been calling around a little bit and it seems like nowone knows what subframes are. One shop said 200 dollars and then i said no way. I'll keep calling but if someone knows a place close to where i said then give me a hollar. Thanks very much, Bill

Re: subframes

I still haven't got them welded in yet. However I also haven't called RPM. I just want someone who will do it for cheap but a good price. I'm sure most people feel the same way. So the answer to your question is no I have not figured it out yet. If you do hollar at me nov194.

Wherever you go make sure that they watch out for your fuel lines on the driver's side. You don't want a Camaro-BBQ

Re: subframes

Not sure if this is assumed or not, but also make sure the car is on the ground as not to 'pre-load' the connectors. They should at least tack weld them while the car is on the ground, and then lift it if necessary.

I've heard this too. I've also heard it's a crock. I believe that even if it doesn't make a difference it's still something that would make sense. Drive on lifts would work too.

I got this off of LS1.com:
