SA...anyone still going to SLP day??
Dee and I are going to sit down tonight and discuss the ifs and ands if that makes since. Good to hear that there are some people coming back that afternoon. If we go, which we probably will, we would also like to head back then. So unless Dee says no, it is gonna be nasty in DFW, or they are predicting hail for Saturday we are rolling. Have to watch the weather tonight and see what it is going to do. I will check back around 7ish to see whats what.
From what I understand the weather should be nice in Dallas.
2002_TAWS6 - you don't have to register but it lets you get the goody bag for free. Last day to register was yesterday but you can still get in for free as there is no registration for that. The only thing you need is a camaro, firebird, grand prix, basically anything SLP makes parts for. You're more than welcome to join us tomorrow.

Well. All I am waiting on is to see when the last wave is coming through SA. If it is hailing in the morning and storming bad, we may wait up to an hour to leave. Here is a link for the weather in Dallas tommorow. www.weatherpoint.com/shared/dcity/0,1780,2149-dal,00.html
Looks to be a little chilly but clear, so at the worst I figure they will dry the track? It is supposed to rain tonight there. Guess if we are there before 5:45 then we are goingwith you all.
Hoping for the best!

Bloodztone - thanks for the reply. I do appreciate it very much.
How many cars are we expecting tomorrow at 4:45 AM?
Sorry I informed you guys about this so late. Few Questions: When does the SLP day start? When does it end? Is it for just a day? I would want to head back to san antonio when its over so is there a group coming back home the same day?
Im trying to pull up some information about it but I cant seem to find anything. Plus that doesnt help much when I dont know anyone one of you guys. If you have a link with anything about the SLP day I would be more than thankful for sharing that with me. The more info I get the better.
Sorry and thanks again.
Hope the weather wont get in our way.

www.slponline.com. I just pulled it up and there's still SLP-Day info on there. Starts at 9 AM in Ennis Texas. Drag racing starts in earnest at 09:30 and goes until 14:30, when the eliminations start. The car show is all day. The event lasts until 18:30 or so.
We should see anywhere from 5-15 cars in the morning. It should be a nice turnout, we may even see more if the weather holds up like this. See you all out there in the morning. I'm hitting the bed for a few hours (if I can sleep, I'm too excited).
Just to clear things up, we want to have everyone there by 4:45am but we'll be leaving at 5am.

Well, it was fun anyhow!!!
Doods, the caravan was the best part to me and the woman. We had the frs going, and the one comment "Guys, if it starts to hail I need to pull over quick to strap my daughter to the hood" was the best laugh we had all week long! Maybe it was since it was so early and we were half asleep still or something, but it was funny.
Second, my track experience... This is what I learned...
1) On your first pass ever, don't worry about whether the camera is on or not while the lights are changing (to green :)
-I had wanted to snap a pic of what I had going on there on the speedo when I hit the 1/4...
2) Didn't quite know where to start slowing down, so I think after I thought I went far enough, I started letting off the gas before I realized what I'd done, but by then, it was too late.
In other words, with my sucky reaction time as I gunned it after realizing the light was green, and with me not knowing where to stop the first time, I did pretty bad... Except for the fact that I still went just a hair over 14 seconds even though I sucked as much as I did! The only thing that did for me was make me want to do it again, and the right way.
We had a great time in the caravan, I wasted 3+ hours in the time trials lanes, I got a helmet at the *last* minute even though I didn't crack 14 and didn't need it as goofy as the one they gave me was, AND to top it all off, it was too cold for us to feel like showing the car afterwards, so we drove around and took a few pics and took off to grab lunch/head home. The whole way we talked about the caravan though, and that was the best part. We need to organize another trip like that. Was much fun. Thanks to all who were there, and see you guys again @ the meets when i can!
Rey :)

i agree the caravan was awesome! Poor little mustang that got in the way. Ben was able to get some video footage so that should be pretty cool when he can burn it to a cd.
The look on some of those people's faces as a 15 car long train of F-bods flew by them at 85+ mph was awesome.

Welp, I had a blast.
The public reaction was a great feeling.
Perhaps not so far away, but I think as a group we should do more cruises. A park picnic, zoo, etc, somewhere in the 60 to 90 minute drive time neighborhood. Maybe once a month or couple months.
The turn out was fantastic. Imagine some young teen sitting in the back of a Suburban who fancies one day owning a Trans-Am of his own, who lives on the Pontiac website, seeing all those F-bodies flying down the road....
LS1, LS1, LS1, LS1, LS1, LS1, ...L36... LS1, LS1, LS1, LS1, LS1, LS1
The gear whine wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Especially having replaced my front speakers, I just turned up the tunes, but that made hearing the FRS a little difficult. I experianced a whole plethura of road noise until we stopped in Austin.
Come to find out my passenger door was not pushed closed completely. After that it was smooth sailing...as smooth as it can be turning 2,750 RPM
The trip back amounted to six F-bodies. And that too was a lot of fun, but seemed slow, I really wanted to go 'hot' for a while on the way home. But none the less. It ended up becoming an adventure.
Mark roasted a wire, losing 35 horsepower each time it grounded out.
Jason encountered a flat and road home on a factory drag-skinny - AKA space saver spare. 55 MPH sucks huh! But his custom rims didn't allow for a GM lug-wrench. So thanks to Mark for thinking to bring sockets. I was faintly dissapointed in myself for not thinking to bring a road kit of tools on a trip that long.
All in all it was a lot of fun, and very very cold. Next road trip I think I'll plan for an arctic adventure and bring a parka. That was just crazy.
But witnessing a sea of F-bodies in the parking lot made it all worth it. Nice to know that the following is so much bigger than a get-together at Sonic once a week. An eye-opener.
Thanks to everyone who went and glad to see everyone returned safely.
AND... NO TICKETS

P.S.
Whatever SLP spent to host the shin-dig, You think they made it all back in the sweatshirt sales alone? Mad Bank!
