Ryan (AHARTZ28) got a question...

I flushed my heater core as you know yesterday and that was fine. But then when drained the radiator today, I refilled it with a gallon of antifreeze and about 1/2 gallon of water, seeing as how I had already flooded the radiator yesterday with h20 during the flush.

Anyway, I start driving after bleeding the air out, and the car has begun running hot again. its up to 250* and it surges primarily at idle.

THe only thing I haven't replaced is the radiator and the fans.

But, the hose that goes from the PCV valve to the intake manifold was ripped by me today. I didn't remembrer it was ripped until I got home and thought about it. Could this hose affect the operating temperature in any way?

I'm afraid to drive it again, because I don't want to blow a gasket again.

Any advice you can offer would help, doesn't matter when you respond, chances are I won't be driving it tomorrow.

Other than the fans or radiator being the culprit, Ithe only other thing I could think would be an "off" mixture of antifreeze and water. But I doubt that.

i got money on the radiator

the car should idle without the fans

and at that temp your computer is compensating for the heat
which is why you may be experiancing surgeing

I would yank the core and get it flushed shouldnt cost you more then $30

Personally, I'm thinking along the same lines as you Ryan, but Eddie also shares an interesting theory. My teacher mentioned that BOTH occur at idle, and in the tech forum, some guy said he had a plastic bag sucked up in there, causing it to overheat constantly.

SInce I replaced everything, including the pipe on the heads, I've decided to finally address the fans and or radiator.

Sounds like the fans are not working properly. Turn on your A/C and see if they come on? If they don't I would check the relays and the fuse.

Thats exactly what I want to pinpoint.

A) Where is the fuses(s)?

B) Where are the relays?

C) How do I check the fuse(s) and relays?

D) DOes anyone have diagnostic editing tools for a 93 F-Body?

I want to program them to turn on at around 190 and 215 rather than 226 and 23X degrees, I know its standard operating temperature for these vehicles but its a little too hot for my tastes.

Thermosensor on front of water pump controls fans, timing and fuel....disonnect when engine is at operating temperature and if fans come on , thats your problem. Laterzz
