Ryan Ahart or anybody - auto trany problem with truck
Ryan Ahart or anybody - auto trany problem with truck
Ryan (or anybody in SA that might be able to help)
This is a little OT. My 97 Z71 has a trany problem.
A little background. I got the truck with about ~60,000 miles. Luckily I got an extended warranty because the transmission went out at ~75,000. Fixed for free and all was good. Well about a 2 months (about 144,000 on the odo.) ago I was heading home from a trip to austin and as I got into the neighborhood, the transmission started shifting very hard (banging into gear). I checked the fluid and all seemed fine so I was like
. The next day I took it out and everything was back to normal. Never happened again. I did change the transmission fluid and filter shortly afterwards. Well last week (about 148,000 on the odo.) on the way home from work after picking the kid up from the babysitter (I live out of town) the hard shifting started again just before I got home. For the next two trips home in the afternoon after picking the kid up (longer trip home when I pick him up) the trany shifted hard just before I got home.
That brings us to today. I was on my way to town this moorning. As I aproached Evans Rd (driving on 281) the truck didn't want to shift. It would hold first gear with light throttle until 3,000 to 3,500 RPMs. Well, I pulled into the HEB parking lot and checked the fluid. All looked fine but when I got in to try and limp to work, I found that I had no reverse and it made a strange wining noise when I tried to put it in reverse. So the truck is sitting in the HEB parking lot and I'm trying to decide what to do with it.
Ryan (or anybody) can you help me out or point me in the best direction?
