Road race suspension setup
Re: Road race suspension setup
Watch that aftermarket K-Member closely.
Need to know a few things up front ...
Which track?
What does the car weigh?
What tires?
What ride height?
I have tried toe out and didn't like it. The car was just too twichty on turn in. I stick with zero toe.
The more positive caster, the more high speed stability on the straights. But the more effort it takes to turn the wheel and the more the wheel wants to self center exiting a turn.
Camber is the tricky one. If you run a 315/17 you will want less negative camber than if you run a 255/16. If you have your ride hieght set really low, your suspension travel is reduced and don't need as much negative camber.
If you dial in too much negative camber, you will be running on the inside edge of the tire and will affect braking performance.
On 255/16, I run -1.9 camber, 4.5 caster zero toe at Motorsports Ranch
At TWS, I go back to -1.5 camber, 5 caster and zero toe.
