Out of towner needs help!! Please read!!

Hey guys, I really need your help; any information you guys could provide me with would help tremendously. This may be a bit long, but please read.

A while back, on LS1.com, a guy by the name of Chad Almon was selling his Silver 1998 Camaro z28 (I’ll post a link as soon as LS1.com comes back up).

The car needed some work, and to account for this, the price was set fairly low. I showed my brother the car and he called the owner. After many days of talking with the owner (Chad Almon), my brother had his credit union contact Chad. The money was sent from the bank to Chad. My brother was then reassured that the car would be shipped. Well, two weeks have gone by and no car has shown up here in Colorado. We have tried emailing and calling Chad on many numerous occasions and have yet to hear back from him. We have left messages on his answering machine, which has done nothing. I have searched on the internet and cannot find any type of contact information for the shipping company either.

Here is what we know about him:

Chad Almon
6708 Daffodil Ct
Ft Worth, TX 76137

Phone # 817-714-3680
chadalmon@hotmail.com

Apparently, Chad runs his own automobile wholesale company. We were told that he used an automobile shipping company called “Inland AutoPlex” which is about 40 minutes away from his house (we were told). As far as what the car looks like, please take a look at the link in my signature; pictures will be under “silver z28”

Like I said guys, anything you could do to help in any way would greatly be appreciated (i.e. phone number of the shipping company, visit to Chad, etc. etc). I will search some more and see if I can come up with any more info on the guy. Unfortunately, I live in Denver, Colorado so my resources to contact this guy are very limited.

Thanks,

Mike

Sorry man, do not know him or many people on the FT Worth side of town but if you post this in the Texas section of LS1.com I am sure that someone will know him. That section gets almost as much traffic and posts as the LT1 tech section here.

Good Luck

I would also call your local police department and report this. They will contact the Ft. Worth pd and they will take care of it from there. It's basically grand theft and its a felony.

daffodil court is actually in a city called watauga and is on the border of that and haltom city. it's a suburb of fort worth, and close to where i work. there are several questionable used car dealerships in this area.

what type of paperwork do you have showing you as the new owner? was there any type of receipt given?

you're going to have to show proof to a judge in civil court that you bought that car. once you do that, the judge will send the constables out to take possession of it for you.

unfortunately, sending someone out to this guy's house isn't going to work. for as much money as you've probably spent, it wouldn't be a bad idea to make the drive down here and file the necessary paperwork in civil court. you can also file for reimbursement of expenses to recover the car.

try calling this company...

and see if they've heard of him. they are a used car dealership in that area and would probably know of an "inland autoplex." you can also call the watauga DPS (817-514-5870) and ask them if they've ever had any complaints against this person. they won't do anything because this is a civil matter, but they can tell you if they've ever had complaints on his business.

and take this as a very expensive lesson.

Ouch!

Report it to the police. Give them his contact info. Print a reciept of the transaction or a proof of the money transfer you transfered to the guy as evidence (I hope you put the vin number of the car you wanted somewhere there). The police should deal with it from there.

I would suggest you also trying talking to your bank about it FIRST. Sometimes they could refund you the amount (temporarly) and take care of the case for you. If they do that and win the case they then send you a letter saying the credit that they refunded to you temporarly has now been a permanent credit.

Dont panic. Im sure there's some way out of this. Especially if you transfered or wired a large amount of money. The bank/police should indicate that the large money was for a certain reason and further process the investigation.

Hope this helps!
