Old School Speed Shops in Houston?
Anybody know of any quality speed shops in Houston that cater to muscle cars? I have looked in the phone book, just to get an idea, but just because they are listed in the phone book doesn't mean they are any good. Location doesn't matter, as long as they do good work. The big block in my Chevelle is getting ready to be rebuilt, and I'd like to buy my parts locally if possible. Thanks

That's pretty much it for parts, and mail order usually beats them both on price and delivery

Don't go to Hot Rod's. When I bought my motor and tranny from them I had them bolt it all together....they put the flywheel on backwards....and I think the motor has been used more than just a few pulls on the dyno...
A friend of mine had his 96 Z worked on by Mad Man racing (think thats the name). Not sure of they are 'old school hot rod' but a high powered bbc is a high powered bbc. They are reputable, when they put all his stuff together they by mistake left it lean and with him having 6-8lbs of boost via a Procharger it burnt the motor up and they replaced it for free since it was their mistake....
BTW: NICE CAR! My dad has a '69 chevelle conv. my brother had a '69 chevelle (mock SS, everything minus the bbc
) and we have another 69 as a parts car.

I guess let me clarify on "Old School". I just meant anybody that had parts for older cars. Sorry about that. 69's are my favorite year. It's going to be painted Sunset Orange Metallic later this summer, I just want to get the engine squared away before it heads to the paint booth. I guess you could call it an SS wannabe, it has SS badges on it but I tell people its just a Malibu and I will have the SS badges removed when it gets painted. I hate having to tell people its a fake anyways.

If you're talking about racing engines, Madman is the place to get a professional engine. However, I dunno about just pure parts purchasing. I'd just mail order'em dude. What kinda parts do you need? Restoration, engine/drivetrain, etc?

Its some local "old school" hotrod street racers in Houston. If a hook-up exists, they know it.
