Well....finally got the car in good shape but I forgot one important thing!!!! I had 4:11 gears with my 6-speed......now I have a TH400 and that dont work in the 1/4 mile!! I ran a 10.38 @ 121.6 letting off about 40-50 yards before the finish line! The rev limiter is set at 7000 rpms and it was bouncing way before the race was finished! Making yourself let of the throttle before the finish line sucks! This was only with a 175-200 shot....I plan on jetting up to a 250-300 shot as soon as my 355 gears come in!

Should be fun!!

nice, letting off really hurt ya.. i bet with 106mph traps, you woulda gone 135-136(auto right?)

with my hooptie 6spd I went 106 1/8th, which was 137 1/4.. so I figure the auto will take a mph or 2 off.. course ET better

 

I will get the nine second pass as soon as I put the smaller gears in! I will tackle that project this week!

Yes....Jordan....I was estimating about 136mph. I will also try a little larger shot at SLP day and see what happens!
When will you be through with your project??

If I were you Brook I would put the "decent" cam in the 383 first

 

Congrats Tony! Pretty good times! Like Jordan said...that 106 should be around 136-137. When I went my 10.48 it was a 107 1/8th mile and a 137 1/4. May be a mph or two less with the auto but should definately be a 9 sec time. Let me know how things are going!

Thanks Joel!! I will get this set up to go as fast as it will...then I will convert to solid roller. I have some tricks up my sleeve to remove a couple hundred pounds off the car also. By the way Joel.....how is your car coming along??

The car is doing well. I have not gotten the chance to get it to the track yet. I did however make a serious road trip in it to see how it would react and to see if I can actually call it a street car. And I must say..that it passed with flying colors. I drove it a little over 400 miles to see my parents in rain and all...the car got almost 17mpg on the highway if you can believe that!!! I know. Crazy! The only bad part of it was that it pretty much fouled the plugs from all that constant driving. Should have leaned it out some for the trip. Aside from that was very good trip. I am in the process of getting the new NOS direct port NOSzel system for it. Should be ordering it in the next week or two. As far as gauging the car...it is hard to...the only thing I have to go on is some LS1 heads/cam/bottle car that I hooped up pretty bad a couple of months ago. The guy thought once again that I was on the spray...but showed him my bottleLESS line and NO solonoids under the hood. Oh well...talk to you later!

Did you ever buy some of them hardened axle stubs from Speed Demon??? That way you can launch out of the hole now??

Thats good that your car is running great! Cant wait to see it again! How long before you take it to the track??

 

I hope to get it to a track pretty quick. Or at least as soon as I get the new set up on it. As for the axle stubs, those guys wanted over $700 and some odd $$$ for them and could not guarantee anything. A buddy of mine works on nothing but Vipers now and they have a guy that will guarantee them and they are less. Just havent gotten around to that yet. Their shop car that has them runs mid to low 9's @ over 150 and they have not broken one. Good to hear from you!

Hey Tony,

Finally got the Vette running again with the new ported (by Jordon) heads. Let me know if ya'll are gonna be going to Temple or some other nearby 1/4 mile strip any time soon. I want to get some times on the new setup as soon as I finishing tuning it up. Been working on it for the last couple days and it's running like a bat outta hell. Think I can still squeeze more out of the carb with some work.

Tony , AGAIN , acolades and kudos on your car , you're headin in the right direction !! Faraday doesn't stand a chance !! The new gears will DEFINITLY make a BIG differance !! More torque and horses equals less gear needed !! Come on down and lets put Farady in his place !! When I get my tranny straightened out I can spray the whole 350 shot ALL the way and I won't have to play catch up !! ( Which I did AND STILL pulled on him !!) I sprayed a 200 shot out of the hole , and hit the second stage in second gear AND let off to shift into third and then hit the whole thing after !! Now that I know how his car runs , I'll shoot the whole thing all the way through the race AND I won't be letting off when I shift !! Faraday has a big head AND he's ALL talk !! ( I want to run him heads up , no car lenght AND the leave , thats ***** **** !! ) If he has such a bad *** car , then why does he ALWAYS want a car AND the leave ??? !!!!! See Ya soon , Ed
