My dog needs a good home
My dog needs a good home
I've posted this elsewhere, so it sounds a little generic:
Free for a good home
This was a very tough decision for us, but in the end decided it would be best for everyone. He has simply grown too large for our small house and even smaller backyard and we can’t fully meet his needs. When we adopted him, the vet assured us he would be around the size of a blue heeler ~ 40lbs...
Brody is a 9 month old Catahoula-Blue Heeler-possibly Lab mix. We do not know what breeds his parents were as he was rescued from a local shelter. He is gray with black patches all over. His brothers and sisters had 3 distinct looks – some like him, some were more like blue heelers and others favored black labs in appearance. Currently he is 75lbs and will get heavier as his frame fills out. Right now, he is just lanky. He is fully up to date on all shots and only lacks neutering. He is not housebroken. He is obedient, but not trained. He learns well with gentle encouragement and non-abrasive assertiveness. He does not respond to harsh voices (they tend to scare him).
He’s a very easy to get along with dog. He loves to run and play outdoors just as much as he enjoys having his ears and back scratched. He loves kids, but doesn’t always realize his size and therefore, will need to be trained to not jump on people – particularly older children. He does very well around myself and our two year old daughter. I have never seen any sort of aggression from him.
He and our much, much smaller shih tzu/schnauzer mix get along very well and play constantly. The small dog is certainly the more assertive of the two and so, he would get along great with other assertive, but not aggressive dogs.
He is all around a great dog, but unfortunately, we aren’t able to provide him with the space and attention he needs. With a little training he would be a great fit for most families with a little space. No apartments please, he needs a yard.
I am posting this on several boards so please contact myself – Jason @ 214.683.8687 or jasonhamilton35@gmail.com or my wife Tabatha @ 972.571.4371.
Thanks much! I'm in Wylie (DFW, just east of Plano)
