LT-1 M6 starting problems

Need some help guys...

This has happened twice in the past two days. I have a '95 Firehawk with a six speed and sometimes when you try to start it you get full power, but the car doesn't crank at all, as if the clutch isn't pushed in. Now, after trying a few times (10-15) the car will finally crank and start right up the first time it cranks.

I need to find out where the breakdown is. I'm sure that there is a switch to tell when the clutch is pushed in, I think that is probably my problem. Do these go out often? Has anyone else run into this problem before? Where is it?

Hey man,

There is a small plastic switch on the clutch pedal...you can't miss it. Does your cruise control not work sometimes?

Could always pull the starter and have it tested for grins.

Cruise has always worked, but then again this just started to happen. I'll check out that switch tomorrow to see if maybe it has a loose connection. Thanks!

Sounds like starter

The next time you have that problem get a friend with a small hammer and lighty tap the starter as you try to crank it. The light taps will jare the windings alittle until they roll over to the next contact.
