Question Ford 9" Questions....

Just curious, does anyone here with a 9" and a full locker in it experience alot of noise from the rear? Mine wines a bit but doesn't really sound like the gears so I am guessing it's the locker...
I was also wondering if anyone here with an ls1 and 4.56's shifting at 6800-7000, with a 28 inch tall tire..what gear in your six speed are you crossing the traps at??
Seems like I run out of gear real soon, I will be going to either nasty-sota or HRP this weekend to find out..if these 4.56's turn out to be too steep I will change it out to 4.11's..based on the street driving though they seem to be matched perfectly for my cam... 591/591 226/226 112 NO MORE BOG, YEAAA!!! he he he
thanks in advance,
Rick

I am installing another set of heads soon and I will need new lifters, since the OEM ones are more $$ than Comp R's thats why I need them..trying to save money but still retain quality......

It is kinda of pointless for Rick to change his lifters if he is going to get another set of stock. The whole point behind changing them is to prevent valve float (which he may very well see with stock lifters at that rpm).

It is a pita engaging/disengaging around corners but with the 4.56's it makes it sooo worth it! I love this rear/gear combo
I bought it off of Chris B, he gave me an awsome deal on it, quality was great and he has been there always to answer any of my questions regarding its install and after install. I had alot of help from Solid95Z, David Palasota, Chris B, and my woman..he he he Jennifer. Without these people I coulda never gotten that thing in there and working along with the rest of my motor..but for that I would also have to thank other people such as 59apache, was there until late doing a header install, and aggiez28 for loaning me tools. It's nice having friends that are always willing to lend a hand.

I have a Ford 9 inch with a Auburn locker in my car. It has 4.11's in it. I bought it from Nationwide Drivetrain. The first set of gears I got from them whinned very loadly.
I then had a co-worker install a new set of gears and he got the same result. I got tired of it once again and took the third member out and sent it to Jack Cambell who owns and races a 8 second pro stock car. He set the gears up for me and they also whine louder then all the others. He says they are set up right just that 9 inchs are noisey. The set of gears have been in the rear end for about a year and a half and many miles and quite abit of drag racing and high rpm dumps. I now once again feal like trying to have them set up once more trying to get them to be quite. Females absolutely hate it. I have to turn the radio up alot or give it gas off and on to talk alot on the highway or just talk very loudly. So yes I guess Ford 9 inch's whine alot or maybe just mine!!!!

All I have to say guys is that 4:56's are fun, but I think that they are too much for me. 1st and 2nd are non existent in ricks car now. I am probably going to go with 4:10's because of that though. I just hope that I don't break them.
