Closest Autocross track to the DFW area
Re: Closest Autocross track to the DFW area
you must be refering to Motorsport Ranch and its a road course, not an auto-x track. there are weekly auto-x's in the area @ place's like Pennington Field @ 121 and central (they just had one sunday), TMS has the every now and then out in the parking lot, and Mineral Wells airport will have them. do search's on E.R. and auto-x along w/ SCCA auto-x. the local BMW club also will host auto-x's and its open to any car, same w/ the porsche club. i'll post some links if i can find any of the old local club sites.

Mineral Wells is a good bit of a drive, but well worth it.
ER isn't going back there 'til November (iirc), but right now I think the S2k, BMW, and Porsche clubs have dibs on it 'til then.

You have to pay 2400 bucks to even race at motorsportrach?
Re: Closest Autocross track to the DFW area
$2400 to be a member. the track is available for rent 1 weekend a month (non-member weekends) and all available weekends are spoken for. a typical weekend on the track @ MSR, TWS (not TMS) and Hallet is $200 - $275 for 2 days. that gives you about 4 20 minute sessions each day and will provide an instructor for novice's. thats more track time than your stock tires and brakes can handle. the track is rented mostly by the following: Drivers Edge, N.A.S.A., BMW Club, Porsche Club, and a few others i'm sure i'm missing. the Drivers Edge is a perfect group to learn your skills on the track. i highly suggest them. i normally spend 3-4 weekends a year on the track in my personal street car. its more addicting that crack. you will chunk rocks @ drag racing once you spend a weekend on a road course. i should know....."hi. my name is Glenn, and i'm a recovering drag racer. i've been 1/8th mile and 1/4 mile drag strip free for 8 months now."
