That is the size of my chambers and I put an .023" head gasket on it. Maybe that's where all of those funny pinging sounds were coming from.

LOL... my car was pig rich.. My pistons are nice and black.

Was your block zero decked? errr.. were the pistons in the hole any? Good ol' Jordon told me what to have done on my car so it was pretty much just a dealing of.... "Yes massa!"

and .023 ?? I'd think that wouldn't be much more than 12.5:1... If that high even.

Oh yeah, mine are black as well. Had a lot of blowby too. Mine ran rich. By it only pinged if I ran it at the stock timing. I brought the total timing down to 31-32 degress and that solved the problem for the normal pump gas. But I ran 108 leaded in it quite a bit and then I bumped the timing to 38 degrees. It REALLY liked that. I never got it dynoed like that though. Too bad we never got a run in before we blew them up. I guess the white ones are too fast for their own good But the block was a stock warranty motor. I pulled mine apart and found a few cracked pistons around the wrist pins and a couple of rods have stess cracks in them. So I guess that it was a good thing that I pulled it apart when I did! What are building next? 383?

Nah.. I didn't hurt mine at all... Just the oil pump went south.. So I'm replacing the bearings and a few select innards.

The 306 comes on a 112, if it's "custom ground" on a 114 it's really not a 306 grind.
