Can a Fel Pro Header Gasket blow out?

I was in my car when it was put on a lift, I know it was kinda weird and the dude who looked under my car says I have a blown out header gasket, he is in the exhaust business so I trust him, but when I finally took a look with day light at my car I noticed a couple of the bolts had backed out ( DUH ON ME! ). I will have to borrow a tool that will allow me to retighten them tomorrow but I suspect retightening the bolts will stop 99% of the leak, without real hard driving can the gasket be blow out? I thought maybe it could because if there was a leak maybe the exhaust was burning the gasket or something. Any info would be appreciated. I will fix it tomorrow and if the sound stops obviously the bolts being backed out was the problem but just curious if a blown header gasket happens often and if so what is the cause?
