cam ?????????

Hey guys, I am no cam guru, so maybe one of you will know if my cam is streetable or not. I am building a motor (1995 LT1) and I have a parts engine that I am robbing good stuff out of... eagle forged crank, H-beam pushrods, SRP -5cc forged pistons, etc. the donor motor was gonna be strictly track car, so I feel like the cam may be too big for me. I know the other parts are prolly overkill, but I already had 'em, so I figured what the heck...just use 'em. Here are the cam specs...

will it work for a street car? (54mm TB, 30#SVO injectors,pacesetter LT's, 1.6 magnum RR's, 3.50 crank, -5cc forged pistons,stock heads, but great valvetrain!)

Re: cam ?????????

car should run pretty good with some tuning. stock heads might be pushing it with that big of a cam, it should run good though. i think the gm 847 cam is as big as that one and there are some people that run it on stock heads. good luck with it, post up some numbers when you get it together. im about done with my LE2 cammed 355 with stock heads, and it runs pretty hard maybe 340-350 hp but im shooting for low low 12's@110 at the track.

Re: cam ?????????

i read some cam articles that stated the 236 duration would make for a real choppy idle..and would not sustain power brakes... is that true?

Re: cam ?????????

just get some good tuning, but there shouldnt be a problem with the brakes. my friend has an xfi 240/246 in his 355 and another has a formula 383 afr's and a 242/248 both run fine and are daily driven more than 30 miles in traffic.
