Anyone need some raw carbon fiber?
i've got a crapload of it i need to sell, so if you've got a project, let me know!
the fiber is braided together all the way around in a circle, much like a chinese finger puppet. you can cut it lengthwise down the middle and have a flat sheet, the width being the circumference of the circle. so an 8" diameter piece would be roughly 25" wide (2 x pi x radius) and i can cut any length needed until i run out. it'll stretch quite a bit, but what you gain in width is lost in the length and vice versa. its neat stuff if you know what you're doing with it.
6" 45 deg 14.4 oz/sq yard ~18"wide when cut $6.00/ft
6.5" 30 deg ??? oz/sq yard ~20" wide when cut $6.50/ft
8" 45 deg 11.0 oz/sq yard ~25" wide when cut $8.00/ft
12" 45 deg ??? oz/sq yard ~37" wide when cut $12.00/ft
18" 45 deg 13.9 oz/sq yard ~56" wide when cut $18.00/ft

Hmmm... what to make.
When I was doing stereo's we would wrap things (Anything!) with this and a can of 3M spray Adhesive. Then, use clear tabletop coating to give it a finished look.
If I knew it would hold up in the weather I would do all the trim on my GTO.

we used to use it at work to make tubing, but don't do that anymore and this is the leftover old stock from about 5 years ago. i'm in the process of trying to make some bodywork for my racebike that i crashed 2 weeks ago, so we'll see how that goes.
