I was told a place in New Haven does a really nice job, but I forget the name. I will try to find out for you. If we ever talk, I'll tell you why to avoid EPP, but I'm not going to bash them publicly. Just avoid them!

I dont think I am gonna be able to have my gears installed and retuned before the 9th now......First off I have to find out how I'm gonna send in my pcm, because my car is a daily driver and I cant leave it sit for too long with no computer, second I need to find a good shop that will do a quality install, third I need to find a place to get the gears and install kit from......I actually ordered them from thunderracing.com, but they said the gears were backordered until august so I cancelled that one. But I'm still down to go the 9th and I will shoot for 13.7 for sure....I got my helmet ordered ( they told me I needed one last time I was there, but I lied sorta and told em I was runnin a little slower and they let me go) so anyways..............oh and does anyone know of any place to get my car weighed locally, I would like to see how much my car is weighing.

Had kind of a hang up on my gears too. I was gonna order them but I found a killer deal on a diff too. So now I have to wait till I have the money for both. I'm gonna have the n2o hooked up though so I'll shoot for high 12s

Nice....I think you should get 12's, how big of a shot are you spraying? I would go the nitrous route, but i just couldnt afford to rebuild an engine or tranny right now. I'm actually getting a little hesitant about the gears, because 3.73 plus good traction (my dr's) and the rearend could blow...so I dont know.

Mark-check out SLP-they have Motive gears-very good quality. The same company makes the stock gears. slpeng.com Also, I was told Ft. Wayne transmission has installed gears before, and did a nice job. I would call some different tranny shops-they might be able to do it.

I'm gonna run a 100 shot. I figure if the motor goes I'll just rebuild it this winter. If my tranny goes its still under warranty so no prob there either. I wouldn't worry about the rear end, from what I've read they usually hold up unless you have a lot of HP, just look at Dans DRs, cam, and n20 still no problems.

Auto's and 10 bolts work alright together. Mark you should be fine for a while with the gears. Ask Joe at hire's on Lime where to get the gears done, i'm sure he knows a good place or person.

josh: actually I really wanna get some motive gears, but I have a series 2 carrier which needs a thicker gear, and I think the motive are series 3 only (at least that is all I have seen)

Hey Mark, I was looking for ya yesterday. My buddy got 2nd place last night. He ran a best of 11.85 @ 116 last night. I still haven't gotten any of my cars there but I did get my fuel pump changed on the '86 and I found a cracked brake rotor.

Hey, I didnt end up making it....was too tired from work and just didnt feel like driving down... thats cool he got 2nd place he is getting pretty good at it. Good luck on getting 1 of your cars to the track, I know I'll be at muncie the 9th ( you have to work right?), but I may come on some wednesdays, just depends. It gets kinda expensive if I go every week though because I have to fill up the car with gas, pay 15 bucks to get in, and then I usually spend 5 or so bucks on food.....not to mention the wear on my new tires.....dangit I need to get some salad shooters so badly. Well see ya around.

Well, I don't know if they have anymore, but SLP used to sell take-out Zexel diffs from the LS1 cars (not the HD ones). You used to be able to pick them up for $99. Those would be a 3-series carrier. Then you would be able to run the Motive Gears.
