Chicago Suburbs mechanic

Anyone have any shops that they trust big time and know they wouldnt rip off a normal customer? I need to get my rear pinion seal fixed, and fixed right and need some recomendations on shops. I live in Westmont, a western suburb so preferably something close, but if its a great place/great mechanic id be willing to drive a lil bit. Thanks guys!

Check midwest section on LS1tech.com. A TON of chicago guys post there every day. Even a few threads on the same subject, most if not all are on speed shops but a lot of them I think would do what you need fixed.

There is a shop called the North&Gary Auto Repair in Carol Stream that my friends and family have been going to for years. They are very honest and won't do a repair that isn't needed or authorized. Have you also considered an f-body specialist shop like FLP in Naperville or Speed-Inc in Schaumburg? Their labor rates will be very reasonable as well.

I don't think Speed Inc does general repairs. I took my Camaro there for an opti-spark change and they turned me down. (I ended up doing it myself )

Oh, okay. When I was there last time having some subframe connectors welded in, another customer there with an LS2 Goat was getting some general work done. I wouldn't doubt them turning down general work though considering how busy they get at times. Where at in Schaumburg are you located? I think I may have seen your car around before.

I find it hard to believe they turned you down. Is there more to this or were you not ready for the wait to get your car in? I know from experience there is sometimes a lengthy waiting list.

Yep, a month and a half wait just to get some subframe connectors and cutout welded in.
