Would low oil cause car to not start

Having trouble trying to get car started. Will turn over and fire up for about 2 seconds, then it quits. Engine leaks oil bad. Just curious, with all of the sensors on cars these days, would not having enough oil in the crankcase prevent the car from starting.

Low oil typically won't prevent the engine to start unless the engine is seizing/seized.

Do you have a working VATS system? That may be your issue.

I am really confused with this VATS system. We replaced the ignition cylinder with a new one from GM. (The original one broke). I brought in the original ignition cylinder and key to the dealer when I purchased the new one.
I ASSUMED, that they would give me a replacement cylinder with key, that would match the resistance of the key and cylinder that I brought in. Did they??? I don't know, is this something that they should have done??? Are there other sensors that need to match this Ignition cylinder/key set up that I received from the dealer???

The VATS looks for the right key chip. Check the resistance of the chip in your old key and your new key. If they do not match then that is likely your problem.

For more infomation try searching for GM VATS system on here or google. There is a huge amount of info about it.
