Post Will headers give deeper tone?

I have a 96 3.8 and just recently installed a dynomax muffler, and some 18" x 3.5" chrome tips.. The sound is pretty good, but the tips make it sounds kinda "hollow" sometimes.. i was wondering, will headers noticably deepen the tone? I also have a SLP CAI on there right now... are the factory exhaust manifolds on the 96 3.8l pretty smooth? or will headers give quite a performance boost? I was also thinking of somehow putting something in my tailpipes to make the inside diameter smaller, which should give a more aggressive sound.. also, the other thing i dont like is the loss in backpressure, when you jump on it off the line it does not shift to 2nd until it touches redline.. it never did this before and seems to be a little bit slower off the start, however it noticably increased my power when i am already moving.. so my main question is that "will headers deepen my exhaust tone and cuase enough of an increase in airflow, to help me get some backpressure back?
thanks
jay

Yes, headers will deeper the tone and make the car sound better, and also add a couple horses.
