Will a 98 3.8 v6 fit in a 96 Firebird?

Will a 98 3.8 v6 fit in a 96 Firebird?

I know it will "fit", but are they going to have the same mounts....wiring....blah...blah...blah....

I know nothing of V6's, this is for a buddy of mine, so I would greatly appriciate y'alls help.

The 96 and the 98 V6s are identical as far as i remember.

Only difference is the intake manifold design - one is angled and the newer one is straight.

You mean the throttle body? Because the 98 V6 has a angled throttle body too, which would work out good.

Yes, but IIRC to swap out one you have to swap out the other because of the mounting setup.

I just put in a 98 pontiac engine in my 96 camaro. I did not have any problems.
