whisper lid

i want to do some free mods and i heard that if you shave the fins of the inside of the stock airbox lid it gains a little, but i wasnt sure that was true or if it would mess up the airflow because they directed it (like an airfoil) or something. and is the inside of a whisper lid smooth? i think it is but im not sure.

that will work, or you could just buy one from one of the board sponsors or a used one in the classifieds.

You can also cut away the plastic shrouding under the air box to let more air into the box w/K&N, but you'll have to devise a piece to put back in there in wet weather. The after market lids are taller, smoother and outlet round(better).but a K&N and FTRA is all that is needed IMO not a lid. All 3 are great dont get me wrong.

You can cut the fins off of it, do the free ram air mod, and I would buy a small piece of hose that looks like the exhaust hose of a dryer and use it to connect the air lid to the throttle body that way you can get rid of the air silencer. The air silencer slows down and heats up the air. Whisper lids come with a hose to by pass the air silencer.
