What would happen if I removed my Cat when installing my flowmaster CAT back?
What would happen if I removed my Cat when installing my flowmaster CAT back?
Well I am going for the lowest rumble I can get from my 3.4 95...will removing the CAT and just going from my "Y" pipe to the CAT back help with the RASP?
I am thinking of going with the Flowmaster American Thunder Exhaust System - Dual Rear Exit http://www.autoanything.com/products...3&v_id=1986793
Any advise?

You don't need to get rid of the cat for a deeper/louder sound. I have a flowmaster 40 series on my LT1. Yeah it is a bigger engine, but at idle it is deep, and under a hard flooring, it roars. It definitely is not quiet. Good tone, good roar when you floor it, and not too loud inside the car either.
Check out the different sounds

thanks for that link...but all thoes sound like they are V8's...won't they sound alot different on my V6?...I liked the 40 Series Delta Flow sound the most...will that still be a lower tone on my V6?...I can't find any cat backs with that muffler on it...

Listen to the 40 series on my 3.4

I couldn't get a dual catback to work with it, but you probably can do a custom job wth duals. Any catback will fit, just replace the 40 with whatever the catback calls for, only iit may not end up being a dual exit.

That will tone down the rasp even more....but the cat will cost you more power then the bullet muffler.
Not sure how inspection works down your way, but up here in Jersey we don't have emmissions testing for 96+ OBDII cars, they just scan the computer for codes. What a lot of guys do is remove the cat, take off the two heat shields that are on it and weld them around the bullet muffler, then install the bullet muffler where the cat was. This allows them to retain the appearance of a cat (so they can pass the visual inspection) and have better performance.

Re: What would happen if I removed my Cat when installing my flowmaster CAT back?
So best would be high flow cat, and bullet muffler in 'I" pipe...right?
So for now flowmaster cat back...
Next month (after Christmas debts are paid) order and install a 2.5in bullet muffler (I went with the bolt on 2.5 flowmaster CAT back system)
And next add a high flow cat.
Each the bullet muffler will make the tone lower, and the high flow CAT will make the tone lower...is this correct?
So I should have a good sounding CAT back setup when done...right?
