Okay, this is not for me.... but a friend of mine has a 95 firebird 3.4 A4 w/ 3.23 gears. he broke the rear end in the car at the track last time we went. He is looking at a rear end from a 95 firebird 5 spd. My question is what gears does the 5 speed f-body have. He wants to stick with 3.23s or higher gears. Thank you for your help.

95' 3.4L firebird and camaro 5-speeds came with borg and wagner T-5 tranmissons with RPO GU5 3.23 gears.

 

for what its worth all 93-95 3.4L v6s came with 3.23s Auto or manual.


When my gears went out I upgraded to 3.42s off a 97 WS6, entire rear axle swap gave me LSD, 3.42s, and 4 wheel disk brakes, a direct swap brake lines bolt right up no changing of master cylinder or proportioning valve needed.

And looking for a decent used rear end it there are more salvage yards for v8 f-bodies then v6s, most v6s you take your chance at a junk yard.

I dont think all 93-95's with the 3.4 had 3.23 with an auto. In fact camaroz28 member camaro6 has a 94 auto with the RPO for 3.42 gears.

 

really news to me, every 3.4L i8 have ever heard of9been around them for roughly 3 years) has been 3.23s, but GM does soem crazy stuff. 3.42s gave me an extra .3 in the 1/4 on average, and did not affect mileage too much. Speedo off by about 5mp[h at worst, and mileage? who cares most 3.4Ls have crap resale value anyways.

 

Yeah your right regaurdless of gears 3.4 s do have a **** poor resale value.
