Re: what gears?

I tried 4:11's, they worked great out of the hole.. but you need alot of HP to pull them for like a 1/4 mile. You should have 3:22's now...... I would think maybee like 3:56...... My V6 was making almost 300 on the bottle and it seemed alot slower on the big end with the gears.......

Re: what gears?

i would actually go wit 3.42's if u go to a 3.73 or higher your car will poop out at 60 mph during a race. 3.73's on a v6 wit no mods u will have no topend wutsoever!

Re: what gears?

Your stock gears should be 3.23's (if you have a Y87 car, then you have a posi, if not, they you probably have an open rear).

Please let us know what your plans for the car are before asking for gear selection. If you do a lot of drag racing, then I vote 4.10's all the way. So many people are afraid of them, because "3.8's have no top end". In reality, adding more gear will only help your car pull harder at the top end, because the torque multiplication is greater. The only downside is that it will affect your top speed (theoretical top speed of a 5spd camaro with 4.10's is 151 mph), so don't go with 3.73's or 4.10's if you plan on some type of land speed racing.

If you are looking for more pep on the street, or are into drag racing, then 4.10's are best for you.

4.10

Re: what gears?

You certainly dont have 3.22 gears, and I'm almost positive all 02 A4's came with 3.42 gears, mine did. If you dont have the y87 package (lsd) then I would add that before going to different gears, as it will make a large difference in your 60', and cut down your et. Honestly, if your car is your daily driver and sees the highway alot, I would keep you 3.42's. But, if you have made up your mind to go higher, I'd say 3.73 is as high as you wanna go.
