just wanderin guys what u think would be faster 0-60 and 1/4 mile. A 2000 a4 y87 firebird with just a cat back exhaust or a new 05 v6 stang auto or stick dont matter?? im really curious to see if they can take a y87 v6 f-body. thanx fellas!!!

 

I sorta predict that they might be faster.

Even though they still dont seem to offer ANY kind of performance options on the V6 like dual exhaust, limited slip, performance gears exc, they have a larger engine with quite a bit of torque from what I rember.

 

I think the firebird might be faster.

 

I say if the stang has an Auto, then the 'bird will take it. If stick, ford's new 6 can actually put it's power to the ground, so I'd lean towards the mustang taking it. That's with driver's being equal, of course.

0-60 in 6.9 seconds
0-100 in 19 seconds
1/4 mile in 15.3 seconds @ 91 mph
Top speed is 113 (governed)

 

well im assuming that maybe my stock y87 firebird is close to them times i never was at the track but i know i can launch pretty damn good when its warm out and never spin a tire. and im pretty sure those times are extremely close to the times of a 99-04 gt auto. not bad for the 6 but then again them last generation 2 valve gt's werent that quick to begin wit.

 

I think I saw the new V6 rated for just under 210 hp.... It is probably up to the driver

 

Well, my gf has an 04 GT 'vert automatic, and with my friend racing it (over 1,000 passes under his belt) it ran a 14.7 without any prep other than tire pressure.

Id say the stang...cause the o4 was actually faster then the fbodys sixer

 

It's a driver's race. The biggest variable here is whether the stang is stick. If the stang is stick it can go either way depending on driver skill. If they are both autos it's gunna be REAL close.
