What are the differences between a v6 and a v8 engine?
What are the differences between a v6 and a v8 engine?
Yeah I know that's a pretty simple question. Obviously I don't know anything about cars, but I'm curious about this because I'm in looking to buy a camaro convertible.
My brother who knows about cars said I should definitely get a v8, because it's more powerful.
I'm curious what are the exact differences between a v6 and a v8? Does it start up faster? Does it go faster? (I noticed on both types the mph is max 120 anyways).
So I'm just curious if someone can help me with the specific differences. Any help appreciated!

None of the parts are interchangable, the trasmissoins for the V8 and V6 are totaly different.
The V8 is bigger and has a lot of aftermarket, the v6 doesn't have as much aftermarket stuff.
There are so many differences it would take to long list them.
I wouldn't get a convertable.
Both cars have speed limiters so they would have about the same top speed.
What years were you looking at?

The majority of LS1s can hit 160mph and I believe most LT1s can get around the same with out any modification to the govenor.
V6=V shaped 6 cylinder engine
V8=V shaped 8 cylinder engine
It's simplest and best to just look at how much power each engine is rated at.
(more horsepower equals which one is faster... generally)
93-95 V6 Camaro = 160 horsepower
96-02 V6 Camaro = 200 horsepower
93-97 (Z28) V8 Camaro = 275-285 horsepower
98-02 (Z28) V8 Camaro = 305-310 horsepower

Theres is nothing bad about verts its just that the frame isnt as strong as the hard tops. So if the car is gonna be raced at the track or even street racing i woudnt get a vert for that reason. But if the car is just gonna be a cruise/fun car no racing no nothing then a vert will do just fine. But then again nothing a sub-frame connector cant fix.
true, the V8 may be funnier, but the fun part stops when u have to pull up to the gas station. IMO, You can still have a lot of fun with the 6, it just depends on how much a\you are wanting to spend, for the car, gas, insurance , tires lol
, and all of that.
, and all of that.
