What is the difference?

what is the difference betwween a $50 universal Cat Convertor and one of the factory ones that cost $450 or whatever??

I guess the factory ones work better for emissions and the jackass goverment requires it??

the aftermarket converters do not have the same quality of precious metals in them to meet the emmision requirements of a factory converter. I was told this from a aftermarket converter manufacturer. The cost to reproduce them is way to expensive but they are better than nothing and help if you have emmission testing in your area. Most of them will go 10k before turning on a check engine light, sometimes longer.
