what about this intake setup?

tell me what you think ill gain with this setup...
im buying a lid from a guy on firebirdv6, its the one that says 3800 in red. im also gonna buy a k&n filter. i think im gonna also cut out the bottom of the airbox which i guess is the "free" ram air.

what should i expect? i have had an edelbrock catback on for about 4 months now too.
i have a few questions too... the lid's hose is kinda worn out so where can i get something to replace it and what would be the best to replace it with? i was thinking maybe goin to a junkyard and getting the stock intake hose off of something and cut it to fit because that would prolly hold up for a long time.

on the k&n does the gasket go on the bottom of the box or on the lid?

does the free ram air work well? is it worth it?

all tips and opions are appreciated. thanks.

you'll love the lid! even more so than your exhaust. yes the free mod is good to. only thing is that your filter will get hella dirty real quick.

The lid is good stuff. Sounds like its a whisper lid, unless the other brands also put 3800 on the lid. Either way I think highly of the lids. The K&N is alright especially if you are doing the FRA (free ram air) mod because you will have the ability to clean it and reuse it. I don't think the FRA is a good mod. The gains are minute to none. Its not worth the dirt it collects IMO. (I had a whisper lid, K&N, FRA and exhaust on my 6.) The gasket the K&N comes with goes on the bottom of the lid. The Holley filters don't require the gasket. Don't expect much if you do the FRA. The worn out hose can be replaced with that kind of hose that your drier uses for exhaust.

PEP Boys sells a replacement intake hose for about $5. Looks alot better than the dryer exhaust hose too. Everything else has been said. I like the FRA mod.

well i thought about having some exhaust pipe bent and use that because it would be a much smoother surface so the air would flow better and i could polish it. but id have to come up with some rubber pieces to go on the ends to clamp down on. tell me more about what pep boys has..is it nice looking, durable, and will air flow well? the free ram air isnt worth the dirt? does anyone else have suggestions for more air intake power? also is the k&n even worth it?

Yes, because it is cleanable. My brother (which has the V6 Camaro) let his buddy work on it in a car shop. He fixed the brakes and inspected the vehicle, and dipped the K&N in acid. I thought it was kind of odd, his red K&N is white now. Has anyone ever heard of it being cleaned in acid?

Is this for the 98'? If so, what am I looking for when I go there? I hate PepBoys, but this would make me go there. I've been looking for a replacement for that hose ever since I put it on.
