Water in tank?
Water in tank?
Took off to Grandma's house for Thanksgiving and stopped to get gas on the way. Car was running fine (that I can remember) when I pulled in, filled it up, started it up and pulled out on to the highway to experience what felt like the rear wheels slipping. (It was wet) So I backed off, then eased back on the gas. My wheels weren't slipping, my engine was misfiring. So I pulled off the road, do a quick peek at the coil and plugwires, everything seemed kosher, I figure I got bad gas, so I drive back to the gas station and they run a test on the tanks and it shows 0 water.
So, I pick up a couple bottles of water remover, figuring that water had just condensed in the tank. (It had been cold and on empty for a couple days) Water remover in a full tank of gas, I've babied it about 100 miles and it shows no sign of improvement. The SES light is flashing at me, and I'm at a loss really.
I know theplugwires are prone to going bad, but I replaced them back in July.
Is this something that water in the tank can do, or is it just some kind of crazy coincidence that it starts doing this right after filling up on gas?

you can either buy a haynes/chilton manual and look it up there or i dont know about 4th gens but on the third gen theres a plate cover under the tach by the steering coloum you can jumper off 2 prongs with a paperclip or scrap wire to get the ses light to blink the code that you can look up
do a search on scanning codes and a new search on the list of codes, im sure you can find somthing about the subject

whoa... my 01 camaro started doing the same thing this week! I also thought gas, it was almost on E, so I filled up from same place I usually go and problem persisted.
I went by the dealership and talked the service guy into hooking up to my car and reading it... he said my #5 cyclinder was the problem and showed me that it was the only one reading problems. [seriously, go up there, be nice, and just ask - you might get it for free like I did.]
Now for where I'm at, I replaced #5 spark plug - it made a big difference but you could still tell it's skipping. So I replaced #5 spark plug wire - didnt make a difference.
Driving home, I heard a noise under the hood. Pulled over and now #2 spark plug wire is arching at the coil - and yes I checked to be sure its seated. It shares the coil with #5.
Now I'm waiting for the engine to cool off so I can replace the coil and see if that helps. Would be curious to know if you get yours fixed.
