Lightbulb v6 performance questions

Hey my name is Sam, I own a 97 auto tranny ,30th anniversary addition, v6 3800 with that cool factory iguana blue green paint. I love the 3800 cuz they are bullet proof (not literally y'all). I have an after market CAI and what looks like a super 44 flowmaster exhaust I stole off my brothers wrecked 98 v6 firebird.
- I was wondering what are some other minor performance mods I can do to get a little more HP or better mileage.?

-lets talk iridium plugs and special wires.. fill me in, what should I get? should I invest in these or is it a waist of time/$$$.. would the hotter plugs spend more gas and will it burn up the motor

-how about a chip? Can my factory parts stand to run at what I would assume to be the hotter temps from here on out? And what kinda chip is best I know nothing about em.

-what about these electric superchargers? I'm very skeptic but open minded..

-what sort of home mods can I do to create better HP besides gutting my cat?

ANY RESPONSE WILL BE MUCH APPRECIATED! Please let me know ASAP!! I LOVE WORKING ON MY CAR ESPECIALLY WHEN ITS RUNNING GREAT!

Please excuse my "poll post" I had no idea what that meant or even was before I posted it.

Re: v6 performance questions

when i upgraded my plugs to the bosch iridium 4 tips at 50,000 miles I swear my car felt a lot stronger and I wasn;t even expecting a difference, they were definitly worth the $60 I paid for them.

I also have a hypertech programmer, I think it made a really nice power improvement, you can program your car to run 93 octane and get like 15 more horses out of the motor or like 10 more HP with 87 octane, plus you can program a bunch of other stuff with it like edit the speed limiter, max rpms, and shift firmness, unfotunatly for me my programmer stopped working so i dont know what's going on with it, maybe because it is interfereing somehow with my remote start system. It might also be causing some annoying engine codes on my car but i'm not sure.

I didnt notice any difference with a k&n filter, but that actually is a money saver.

I haven't done much performance modding because it mostly seems to be a waste of money, I find the best performance mod in my car is keeping good oil in it, the engine really runs like crap with worn out oil.

Re: v6 performance questions

do a turbo! the hypertechs sux i had one for my 98 z28. i dint feel anything different at all. they dont make superchargers for the 3800 anymore. i used to have a 3800 firebird and dumped alot of money into it and it was a waste of time. if your short on cash get a LT1 (:

I have dynoed alot of vehicles and bosch plugs never give u anything. Most plugs give u nothing on stock vehicles. Just run a/c delco iriduim plugs and good taylor wires.

just because it doesn't have more peak power doesn't mean it doesn't run better with better plugs. Any new plugs will perform better than worn out ones.
