i'm a new owner of a 2000 camaro rs and i need tips on wut to do to mod it. I know the basics, like the cool air intake and the underdrive pulleys and stuff, but wut else makes significant horsepower that i can do myself without having to change the engine to a v8?? my bro is always discouraging me about his car but i love it...he has an eclipse that he thinks is the best friggin car...but i know that my camaro has potential. I just need to know wut to do to it................ so some experienced people please help a brutha out. I dont want to mess up my car so please please give me good advice....i just wanna smoke this guy in a race

Not many underdrive puleys out for 3.8L v6s, and they wouldn't help you much over your stock pulleys.

I think 98+ newer v6s ahve a free Intake mod that is pretty effective, and free And really opening up the exhaust helps too.

installuniversity.com has the blow-by-blow on the free "cold air intake" mod. i did it. i don't know if it does anything good, though i don't think it hurts either. the problem is that gigantic air baffle that i still haven't been able to work around. it should be simpler for a 2000, since you guys have an electronic throttle body which just comes traight out. mine sloaps down and its harder to work with.

damn, '98s really ARE a bastard year for the V6 camaro. :/

your brother is really jealous because you have a much better looking car and one you don't see at every turn.

I believe 98+ have the whisper lid you can add on. Also exhaust, headers (they cost alot for 7 horses), gears (3.42's seem to be what most people prefer on here) jet chip, a cam if you're serious. Don't fear eclipses, i've only seen the taillights of one in a race ( I didn't know it was twin turboed at the time, looked stock).
Good Luck.

you want mods? check out my site and that might lead you in the right direction. but remember this - i have had my motor rebuilt twice already and i barely have 45,000 miles.
first thing first: intake /exhaust then go from there.
