Post V-6 conversion to V-8 options

I am looking at buying a 89 RS with a 5 speed. What are the possibilities of swapping in a 305 or 350. Will I have to ditch the tranny or can I mate up to the 5 speed? It has a 2.8 right now (yuck) but the body is nice and it has T-Tops oh yeah and the price is alright. I have a 86 2.8L V-6 Camaro right now except it's a auto and I find its super anemic yet super reliable. Yes a 2.8 being reliable.

So I want to step up to bat with a V-8 and a tight Camaro what are my options?

Its not too hard to do the swaps on a 3rd gen. I've seen this done before. I'm thinking you'd need to get a v8 tranny as well as a bunch of other goodies to go along with it.

Okay it's done 2nd gen Z28 is gone (it was pretty beat and I always wanted a 3rd gen) Anyway so I dragged my V-6 RS back and after the initial feelings of wow cool I have T-Tops in a 3rd gen. So here's my plan. First I am going to attack any rust on the body (there is very little) however there is a hole in the floorboard that someone did a half *** patch job on. So out will go the carpet and seats and I'm going to weld in or screw in a better peace of metal there. Then its off to the tire store. The pass. drive tire is pretty bare. Then I'm off to see if I can get the muffler issues fixed. There is a leak up front. Then...I am gonna start searching for the perfect motor. I have friends that say a TPI isn't that hard, especially the ones that get all the computer stuff shipped with it. I don't know. I also have a friend with a 472 Cadillac motor that has just been begging to find a engine bay. The motor is from a 73 Hearse and is newly rebuilt and carborated and HUGE. I'm thinking the Caddy motor can stay on the stand. I just want a Vanilla 350 TPI and am figuiring on spending a couple thou on a new engine and then beer to have friend come and help install I figuire for a thousand bucks it should be the start of a fun project. My wife is pregnant and I have created a non hormone zone in the garage. I plan to put up a web site with details of my changes starting with the first pics tommarow.
