when i looked into getting one custom done from axis engineering here in town, they told me aprox $5000 and it would put me at around 300 horses with the mods i had then, which at that time was very little.

If you could get a 3.8L cylinder head an exhaust manifold, a turbo charger. You could put them all together then bolt them on and run the plumping, You could run 9lb of inter cooled boost at the very most with out much problem. I don't know what the stock computer will do if or when the MAP reads boost, if it don't like it than put a cheack valve on line to the MAF, if ther isn't a line make one. And wire in a rich/lean indcater on the O2 sencor you will need a fuel PSI gauge to see what the fuel PSI does under boost and see what hapens to the mixture on boost.
To controal engine boost you can get a waste gate or try a theory I have i don't know if it will work that great.
Put a PSI reg valve off the top of the plentum or at least not before the inter cooler have a line go from there to a psi reg set to max desired boost to asperator valve and into the exhaust so you don't over pressure the engine boost and send the bleed air from the plentum into the exhaust so every one around dosen't hear the embarising sound of the waste gate opening when you over spool the turbo.
But that set up could cause an over speed condition the turbine.
You could get every thing but a PSI reg from a junk yard.
A waste gate lets out exhaust gas when the engine is over boosted and keeps the turbine from over speeding. My thing dosen't protect from over speeding.

My best idea in at least 3 days

To vent exhaust to keep the turbo charger from over speeding and engine from over boosting...
Get an EGR manifold and an EGR valve and put in my PSI release but rig it up to use the vaccume in the vaccume canester to open the EGR valve when the engine gets over boost (I know I'm good).
I should have been an enginer not an AGE mechanic.

oilpan, I don't know WTF you are talking about, you obviously don't know how a turbo system works very well....

all I gotta say is, if its done right, it wont be cheap.

EGR valves??? HUH???

Just use a turbo that is wastegated. And adjust it to where you want to the boost to dump.

The exhaust that is dumped goes right out the outlet of the turbine housing, preventing the compressor from producing toooooooo much boost.

Heck I run over 30psi of boost on the diesel.........my wastegate is disconnected....and oh how does it sing.

But if you are gonna spend 5grand on a turbo, just get a S/C system. I remember seeing a couple around.

The reason Tiago turbo'd his 3.4 is because isn't any S/C systems out for the 3.4...........plus also he's NUTZ

Well he said he didn't have a hole lot of money, I was just trying to think of a (realy) cheap way to keep stuff from coming apart.

I did all the work myself and it still , good parts add up.

turbo kit can be made cheaper then a SC kit IMO, and between the two I still rather have hte Turbo
