transmission problems

last night i went to the island that is about 1and a half hours of driving. on mi way back i noticed that the tramsmission was slipping a lot so i stoped at a walmart and cheked the fluid the car needed some so i bought some and putit in. the transmission worked for a moment, but as i was driving it would start slipping and i had to pull over a couple of times. so i ended up at my grandmothers house and left the car there. so has any of you had a problem like this? by the way its a 95 camaro with a 3.4L v6. what kind of transmission does the car have, and what are the stock gears of the car.

You have a 4L60-E tranny. As for the gears, you'll have to check the RPO codes in either the door jamb or glovebox and compare:
GU2 = 2.73
GU5 = 3.23
GU6 = 3.42
